So boxing yes, I have always enjoyed the martial art of boxing, but ever since Conor McGregor fought Floyd MayweatherAdidas_Boxing_Boots_Hog 2_Review_MMA UFC Boxing MMAGateway in a boxing match, I think all of us have paid more attention to boxing. So today we are going to take a closer look at a slick piece of boxing equipment, in the form of Adidas Boxing shoes, and we are now going to review the Adidas Box Hog 2 Boxing Boots.

When i’m working out and sparring in these boots, I find the sturdy mesh upper construction keeps my feet nice and cool, they are really breathable which helps to maximise my performance late into the fight. Grip, Movement its all there for me in these boots, but they are not perfect, which is why we are doing this review today.

But no matter what you say as well, style is still a factor within training gear, everything has to be sleek, strong, and be the sort of clothing that will not only physically maximise your performance, but will also maximise your confidence leading up to and within the training or fight and that’s what you get with these boots.

Heres a video taht will show you a closer look at these Adidas Box Hog 2 Boxing Boots –

My favourite parts of these boots

  1.  So as I mentioned at the start, I think style is important, and personally I have always enjoyed wearing Adidas Samba shoes and a few others through the years just for all purpose situations. So for me Adidas black trainers Adidas_Boxing_Boots_Hog 2_Review_MMA_UFC Boxing MMAGatewayalways look really cool with the contrasting white stripes, so obviously I feel these Adidas Box Hog 2 Boxing Boots are stylish enough for me to wear outside of the ring even if I wanted, because they naturally will go with a lot of outfits you have especially black outfits in my opinion.
  2.  In Boxing and Martial Arts in general movement is so important, and the flexibility of movement you get with the breathable mesh fabric on these boots is phenomenal. Also because they are really breathable, so every time you move around and pivot, you get a rush of air through your feet, which helps keeps you cool deep into the rounds.
  3. Sit down on your punches! With the top quality grip on the soles, I find that it really helps with sitting down on your punches and generating some excellent punch power. Also having such good grip on the soles means that you can keep your balance nicely and on a boxing mat you can switch between sliding around on the outside with your jabs, defence and movement, to sitting down using all the grip on your power punches in the pocket.

Pros

  • The mesh material construction keeps you cool and gives you good freedom of movement.Adidas_Boxing_Boots_Hog 2 Review MMA UFC Boxing MMAGateway
  • There is 3 stripes of woven textile which give good lightweight support also the Suede overlays give a light weight durable and comfortable boot.
  • The gum rubber outsoles gives excellent grip and traction, meaning it really supports you with putting power in your punches.
  • They are easily one of the lightest boxing boots I have ever tried, meaning you can move around freely round after round without feeling like your feet are weighing you down late into the fight with some heavier boots.
  • As my friend points out in the video above, you can also use these shoes for power lifting and I would also say you could use them for wrestling training as well if you really needed, so these Adidas Box Hog 2 Boxing Boots are very versatile.
  • For me these boxing boots are easily some of the coolest looking ones I have ever seen, and being as I am a fan of various Adidas shoes, these ones keep you looking stylish throughout your training and fight which gives you a little mental boost.Adidas_Boxing_Boots_Hog 2_Review_MMA_UFC_Boxing MMAGateway
  • Excellent variety of sizing’s, and accurate sizing’s – I’m usually a size 10 and i bought a pair of size 10s and they fit me perfectly.
  • Really good affordable price ranges for such a quality boot.
  • Very good lastability on these boots, as my friend points out in the video above, these Adidas Box Hog 2 Boxing Boots will last you for years.

Cons

  • Just like my friend points out in the video, I feel that the back of the boot could have some more ankle support, which would further add to balance and punching power,  but personally I’m still happy to sacrifice it for the freedom of movement I get with these boots.Adidas_Boxing_Boots_Hog 2 Review MMA UFC Boxing MMAGateway
  • Some people say the sizing’s are not accurate, but personally I disagree with this because as I said the size 10s fits me perfectly, but I guess everyone has different types of feet width/depth etc.
  • One guy told me he got blisters with these boots, but personally I didn’t have that problem, and I have used these for months.

Float like a butterfly sting like a bee!

Yeah what did the great Muhammad Ali say? Well he said a lot of amazing statements but one of his most popular Adidas_Boxing_Boots_Hog 2_Review_MMA_UFC Boxing MMAGatewayregarding in the heat of combat is “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!”.

Its always been a true statement especially in the world of boxing and with these Adidas Box Hog 2 Boxing Boots as we have shown in today’s review, they allow for amazing freedom of movement and good assistance to grip/power dynamics in the ring.

As we said at the very beginning, I think everyone has been paying more attention to boxing after watching the McGregor vs Mayweather match back in August.

So now we have reviewed these Adidas Boxing Shoes, then its time for you to get your pair for all your boxing and training needs, so do that right HERE.

I hope you enjoyed this review, so please leave a comment or question below so we can have a chat, and as always stay tuned for more from the world of MMA right here at the MMA Gateway.

See you soon partners!

  1. Hi–Just came across your article-nice boots. Do you really think these are OK with less back-heel support than some other boots? They sound great but I’ve never tried these out. I watched the Mayweather vs Mcgregor fight couple weeks ago. It was cool but I thought it would have been over quicker-lol .anyway thanks for this article. I am definitely going to check these out

    • Hi Vic, yeah trust me bro if you naturally hit hard, then you will not be worried about the lack of back heel support, because you gain more movement, and they are so lightweight which i prefer. But if you want more sturdy heel supports then i suggest other boots, but stay tuned because i will be reviewing more boxing boots soon!

Also make sure you get yourself a great pair of gloves for sparring as well, here are my personal favourites.

See you again bro, thanks for the thumbs up!

  2. These are awesome shoes. I agree that I love wearing Adidas Sambas. They go with anything. I always have a problem with sweating too much when working out so I love the breathability. Especially since these go so much higher on the leg than other shoes. I also love the flexibility of these shoes!

    • Hey Austin, sounds like you have the same Samba bug as me 😉 lol, glad you like these Adidas Box Hogs because they really are awesome and a natural fit for anyone who loves Adidas shoes, while wanting a top pair of Boxing Boots for sparring.

I know your prefer your boxing, but have you seen these UFC Gloves? You should get some to switch up your boxing training.

      See you again soon!

  3. Another great review! I have recently bought the Box Hog 2 Boxing Boots.
I love them! They are great for training in. I have a lower back injury so I will never be able to compete again, but training is in my blood, so I do what I can.
Anyway, these are great, anybody looking to get a new set of boxing boots needs to look at these!
    Brendon

    • Hi Brendon, that’s awesome that you already have these Adidas Box Hog 2 Boxing boots, you obviously have a good natural eye for quality equipment!

If your still part time training now, you might still want to get a quality freestanding bag to work with at home, so check this one out.

      Have a good one!

  4. I’ve been looking for some shoes to get to start my training and I LOVE Adidas. I always have. How long do these typically last? I used to wrestle and I’d wear out my Aasics pretty darn fast. Like in 3 months. Just wondering if they would be worth it. I know Adidas does a good job so I will probably want these ones anyway lol

I do have really flat feet though. Do you know if these have a wider style for my feet?

    Thanks a bunch!

    • Hi Kyle, good to hear from you and yes these Adidas Box Hogs are perfect if you want to start training – they will wear out within  2-3 years if you spar consistently, but maybe quicker if you do lifting and wrestling in them as well.

But they are really well priced though so i just got a new pair when my old ones wore out. For wider feet you should get one size bigger ten you usually would wear, that’s what my friend told me.

Have you tried this freestanding bag before?

      Thanks for dropping in!

  5. I have never in my life seen boxing shoes up close in my life. But after seeing this I will say that they are a lot lighter looking than I expected. I have some shoes that look similar to these. But I don’t think they are boxing shoes. They are Kobes.

But as long as they get the job done that’s all that matters. Especially when you get hit for a living.

    • Hi James, yeah your right these Adidas Box Hog 2 shoes are much lighter then most shoes i have ever tried honestly, definitely lighter then Kobes, which is crucial when your in the ring – you definitely don’t want your feet getting weighed down.

If you like these and your thinking of getting into boxing more, check out these gloves.

      See you again!

  6. I really liked the base of the shoe. Looks like it will definetely stick you to the ring floor and handling of your body is one of the most important factors in boxing.

Boxing is an ART form and every gear should be chosen to perfect that art form. I also liked the breathable fabric. I don’t like when my feet gets sweaty. Can’t do anything for the hands in gloves but at least we can improve the feet.

    • Hi Tyler, yeah definitely the base of the shoe is awesome, you can switch from sitting down on your punches using all the shoes grip, to floating and sliding around on the outside, which are both huge factors in boxing!

I agree Boxing really is an art form, and like you say every good artist needs the right tools 🙂 and your feet will stay nice and cool!

Also make sure you get the right level of protein intake in between training sessions!

      See you again!

  7. Thanks Marley Dawkins,
Boxing is a combat sport in which two people, usually wearing protective gloves, boxing shoes, throw punches at each other for a predetermined set of time in a boxing ring. Really, those are nice shoes for Boxing. Especially for boxer.
